If you are an SUV-oriented buyer, you must be aware of the MG Hector. Given the pricing and the features of the MG Hector, it won’t let you lament most of its offerings. MG Motors India also offers a three-row layout, but that is available in the MG Hector Plus model.

As mentioned earlier, it is a feature-loaded vehicle that shouldn’t let a buyer complain about it. It also looks like an imposing SUV despite having a futuristic look, especially the front fascia.

The Appearance
Recently, at the 2023 Auto Expo, MG Motors India launched their updated iterations, the MG Hector and the MG Hector Plus. Just so you know, the Hector Plus is a three-row version of the MG Hector. But, overall, they are more or less the same.
The most notable change is the heavily worked front fascia. It seems that the big grille is a trending design language. Yes, that’s right. The 2023 MG Hector has a big grille with black-chrome treatments, flanked by sleek LED headlights with LED DRLs. For your reference, MG cars says that it is an Argyle-inspired diamond mesh grille.
The lower section of the bumper consists of LED cornering fog lights that are useful at turns.
Coming to the rear, the carmaker has made some changes there too. The 2023 Hector now offers a running LED taillight that runs along the chrome lining on the tailgate. It incorporates LED indicators and LED reverse lights.
Unlike, the previous iteration, the updated version has the ‘Gloster’ badging on the tailgate, finished in chrome. The bottom right of the tailgate also highlights the ADAS badging, finished in red colour. Yes, that’s right! The “ADAS badging.” The 2023 Hector now offers advanced safety features as well. It is not a standard feature.

Further, the lower section of the rear bumper is also tweaked, as it consists of black cladding with chrome garnishes, alongside square-shaped exhaust tips.
But, overall, the carmaker has retained the silhouette of the MG Hector exterior.
Plusher than Before
As the title suggests, the updated version of the MG Hector looks plusher than before. As far as the top model’s interior goes, this vehicle will welcome you with the biggest screen in the business, as its measurement is rated at 14 inches.
The vertically laid-out touchscreen infotainment unit comes with a wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside an in-built WiFi, iSmart Internet connectivity feature, and voice commands (now in Hinglish). You will also get an Infinity-sourced premium sound system, which consists of eight speakers (four speakers and four tweeters), along with a subwoofer and amplifier.
The MG Hector has a dual-tone interior with a black and beige colour scheme. It offers leather upholstery, which is accompanied by wooden treatments and Satin Chrome accents. The wooden treatment, undoubtedly, made the interior consist an increased sense of design. It should be safe to say that the new Hector is the most luxurious vehicle from the inside and that too in the business.
Further, this vehicle will welcome you with a multi-functional leather-wrapped steering wheel, paired with a fully digital instrument cluster. It also offers several storage compartments that you will notice on the door panels, centre console and cockpit. Speaking of which, this SUV offers a cooled glove box and a sunglass holder as well. As far as the features go, they include multi-coloured ambient lighting, power boot, remote engine start/stop feature, USB ports for all passengers, a 12V charging socket, cruise control, and voice control with more than fifty commands in Hinglish.
Features
There are more features that are on offer, such as a dual-pane sunroof, three drive modes, all power windows with an anti-pinch power window on the driver’s side, ventilated seats at the front, an air purifier with AQI and Ionizer, metallic scuff plates, to name a few. It also offers mobile app connectivity that further has a long of connectivity features.
With that app, the user can remotely control the windows, door locks, sunroof, HVAC, and lights (interior and exterior, including ambient lighting). Further, the user can also check the status of the vehicle, such as the tyre pressure monitoring system, live speed, live location, last parked, and, upcoming service(s), to name a few.
You can also avoid using physical car keys, as the MG Hector offers a Bluetooth-enabled digital key that can be shared with your loved ones as well. Speaking of phones, this SUV offers a wireless phone charger as well.
On the safety front, the 2023 MG Hector is equipped with six airbags, hill-assist, brake assist, traction control, ABS with EBD, ESC, auto-dimming IRVM, central locking, child-seat anchorages, anti-theft alarm, seat belt warnings, engine immobilizer, among others.
It also offers ADAS feature which includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning with prevention features, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, bend cruise assistance, safe distance warning, intelligent headlamp control, and intelligent hydraulic braking, to name a few. It also has an I-Call (for convenience) and an E-Call (for Emergency). Further, it includes a 360-degree view camera with ultrasonic parking sensors.
